According to AndroidCentral, the “tug-of-war” between Samsung and Apple is wildly popular on any given day. It’s always about the phones they sell, market share, quality of products including cameras, etc. It usually happens every quarter of the year. According to reports, in the first quarter of 2022, Samsung has already surpassed Apple in global shipments of its smartphone products.

A recent analysis by the Bankless Times brought some facts and figures about the conglomerates: Samsung and Apple. The data presented in the current report includes an exploration of the global market share of shipments made by different vendors and companies.

It found that Samsung delivered 73.6 million smartphones in the first quarter of 2022. The closest competitor, Apple, shipped 56 million units worldwide. This gave Samsung a 23.4% global market share.

Judging by the actual numbers reported. Samsung achieved a 23.4% market share, followed by Apple with 18%. However, the report shows that Apple has managed to achieve 2.2% growth compared to last year. Apple is also said to be the only manufacturer to show positive growth.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi came in third (39.9 million units shipped) with a market share of 12.7%, followed by OPPO and Vivo (27.4 million and 25.3 million units shipped, respectively). The report further states that Xiaomi’s market share has dropped significantly compared to last year. OPPO and VIVO were also accused of experiencing a sharp drop in market share (year-over-year).

Samsung made some of the best Android smartphones this year, with the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra taking the top spot as the best-selling model. Samsung is said to have achieved this with its creative and innovative products. “Bankless Times” CEO Jonathan-Merry believes that it provides users with a variety of choices from low-end to mid-range models.

“Samsung is known for creating attractive and innovative products that meet consumer needs.”

“It has established a leadership position in the smartphone market thanks to its long-term strategy of focusing on mid-to-low-end models. In addition, its focus on end-user experience enables it to offer a wide range of differentiated products that generate significant sales. ”

The Bankless Times also shared some statistics from IDC (International Data Corporation) concerning the overall contraction in global smartphone market shipments in the first quarter of 2022. According to IDC statistics, smartphone shipments fell by nearly 8.9% year-on-year in the first quarter. And, this is apparently the third straight quarter of declines, considering the previous hits as well.

According to Nabila Popal, research director at IDC, one of the fundamental reasons for the decline in global shipments is the current limitations of basic mobile phone components. She further added that global inflation, coupled with economic uncertainty, has reduced the demand for smartphones. And the recent Russian-Ukrainian war is also said to have caused manufacturers to reconsider their growth plans for the second half of the year.
